"Bohemia-On-the-Hudson"
some have called this tree-lined enclave of charming old houses west of
Greenwich Village, where we'll begin at the "Hanging Elm". Then
on to visit Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney in MacDougal Mews and Ruth McKinney
and her sister Eileen on little Gay Street. We'll pay a call on General
Phil Sheridan and remember the Stonewall Riot. We'll go on to visit Cary
Grant's old digs, an intact speakeasy from 1928, Thomas Paine, Edna St Vincent
Millay, several ghosts and lots of boot scrapers. For wonderful old houses,
stories of scandal, bad behavior and outrageous nonsense Greenwich Village
can't be beat.
